UD Las Palmas travels to San Antonio with a focus on young talent and the club’s international expansion
UD Las Palmas will embark this afternoon on an institutional and sporting trip to San Antonio (Texas, USA) to play a friendly match against San Antonio FC, a team from the USL Championship, and to participate in a series of official events with local authorities and the city's Hispanic community. This initiative is part of the club's internationalization project and its "sister" teams.
The match will be held on Saturday, May 31 at 8:00 p.m. (2:00 a.m. on June 1 in the Canary Islands) at Toyota Field stadium, where a strong turnout of Hispanic fans and UD Las Palmas supporters in the U.S. is expected.
During the visit, the yellow delegation will take part in an official event at San Antonio City Hall, led by Mayor Ron Nirenberg, and will carry out several activities with the local community, including open training sessions, content sessions, fan meet-and-greets, and appearances by the club’s mascot, Pío Pío, who will participate in joint activations with the Texan team’s mascot, symbolizing the connection between the two cultures.
In addition to representing the club on the field, the yellow delegation has a clear goal: to continue supporting homegrown talent. The club wants this international experience to provide its young prospects with exposure to a highly competitive environment and allow them to represent the values of the yellow academy beyond our borders.
The delegation will include club representatives, institutional staff, coaching staff led by Momo and José Yepes, and a selection of first-team and academy players.
This trip is not only a sporting event but also an opportunity to strengthen ties between San Antonio and Gran Canaria—two regions with strong Hispanic roots—and to carry the colors of UD Las Palmas beyond the Atlantic.
