Kirian Rodríguez appeared this Thursday at a press conference on the eve of UD Las Palmas' official debut in the 2026/27 season. The yellow team will host Albacete BP this Sunday at 8:30 PM at the Gran Canaria Stadium in the first matchday of LALIGA HYPERMOTION.

The yellow captain approaches the new season with excitement and the ambition to return UD Las Palmas to the First Division, after narrowly missing promotion last season. Kirian also analyzed the new ideas of the coaching staff, the adaptation of the new players, and the role of the youth players.

“We are excited and eager. Many of us who were left with the disappointment of being eliminated in the playoffs (last season) are still here. We are motivated to turn things around, to start strong at home from the very first match.”

“The coach is trying to convey his game plan, what he wants to do in each match, how to dominate them. In the last match, we saw glimpses of what we worked on in Marbella. Over time, we will get to know each other better. He asks us to be ourselves and enjoy it, as that will make everything easier.”

“If you ask me, I’ll say I’m still at UD Las Palmas because I want to take them back to the First Division. It’s an unfinished business. I’ll keep trying until I achieve it.”

“I love the youth players. They have an incredible level. I said it about Valentín when he wasn’t fortunate in his first two matches. I told a friend that he needed time. We give him time and calmness. I hope everyone else does too because they deserve it.”

“De la Barrera and Cejudo have incredible hunger. For them, this is a great opportunity. They’ve come with the excitement to make the most of it. They want the players to adopt their methodology and style of play as quickly as possible.”

“I’ve known Jefté since our time at Tenerife. I have a lot of affection and respect for him. I’ve seen Jefté with a spark, a boldness to show that he’s eager to be here. We hope that hunger for goals stays with him throughout the season because many goals and points will come.”
