Las Palmas closes the preseason with the conquest of the Trofeo Carranza (1-3)

UD Las Palmas won the Ramón de Carranza Trophy for the second time this Saturday by defeating Cádiz CF 1-3. The match also served as the final episode of the 2026-27 preseason schedule. The island players came back from an early deficit after a quick goal by Cádiz's Izeta, but Miyashiro and Fuster made it 1-2 before halftime. The goal that sealed the scoreline was scored by Jefté during the second half.

As had already happened in other preseason friendlies, the match in Cádiz began with a severe setback for UD Las Palmas. In the first advance, breaking through the lines on the left, the home team pushed forward through Antoñito and, after a second play, Izeta scored the 1-0 with a shot placed close to the post.

Las Palmas responded to that setback with ball control, trying to impose their rhythm of play and their own strategies in their opponent's field. After several plays that the islanders failed to finish, Miyashiro finally completed an action by Kirian Rodríguez to equalize the match. The 1-1 was resolved by the Japanese player with a moving control and a half-turn shot, crossing the ball past Ezkieta.

At the half-hour mark, the 1-2 came for Rubén De la Barrera's team, moments after Ezkieta saved a low cross-shot from Jefté. But Marvin Park created the play for another goal, advancing down the right to the end line and passing the ball to the goalmouth, where Manu Fuster appeared to score decisively.

Las Palmas reached the break with an advantage on the scoreboard, showcasing their style of play against Cádiz. They also withstood the initial onslaught from the home team in the second half, which was trying to equalize the match again.

However, at the hour mark, the 1-3 came courtesy of Jefté Betancor. The islanders' attacking operation required interplay between the lines, with a final pass from Miyashiro that Jefté used to launch a precise mid-height shot from the edge of the area.

The best opportunity for Cádiz in the second half was a direct free kick by Antoñito that Caro controlled. The scoreline was never in danger, and the large Carranza trophy travels once again to the island.
