UD Las Palmas and Sergio Ruiz Alonso (El Astillero, Cantabria, 12/16/1994) join forces for the next two seasons, with an option for an additional campaign. Sergio Ruiz thus returns to the club after wearing the yellow jersey during the 2020/21 season and the first half of 2021/22, a period in which he played 43 official matches, scored five goals, and provided six assists, leaving a great impression among the fans for his commitment, physical effort, and quality in midfield.

Trained in the youth academies of CD Arenas de Frajanas, Atlético Perines, and CD Laredo, the Cantabrian footballer made the leap to professional football with Real Racing Club, with whom he achieved promotion to the Second Division in the 2018/19 season.

In the summer of 2020, he became a player for Charlotte FC of Major League Soccer, a club from which he joined UD Las Palmas on loan. After his time with the yellow team, he returned to the American club, where he played 18 official matches before returning to Spain to join Granada CF in August 2022.

With the Nazarí team, he accumulated four seasons and more than 130 official matches, becoming an important figure in their promotion to the First Division achieved in the 2022/23 campaign.

A midfielder with great range, intensity, and the ability to cover a lot of ground, Sergio Ruiz now begins a new chapter with UD Las Palmas, where he will once again bring his experience and leadership.
