Sergio Barcia: "It wasn’t a hard decision. I always knew I wanted to be here because of the playing style."
UD Las Palmas' new center-back was officially presented this morning at the Ciudad Deportiva: "I like the associative style of play and being a protagonist with the ball."
UD Las Palmas presented Sergio Barcia Laranxeira this morning, their new central defender who joins the club on loan from Legia Warsaw. Sporting director Luis Helguera stated during the presentation that Sergio Barcia "fits very well with what we’re looking for. He’s bold in defense and duels, and has good ball distribution."
In his first words as a UD Las Palmas player, Barcia said, "I was eager to come as soon as I knew the opportunity was there. I have experience in this division, I can bring defensive solidity, and I'm quite an aggressive center-back. On the ball, I enjoy an associative style of play and being involved," he added.
Regarding the upcoming season in LALIGA HYPERMOTION, Sergio Barcia described the league as "a very tough competition, a bit of a jungle, and very long. The key is to stay calm, understand that the season is a marathon, and build momentum step by step."
As for the goal: "Collectively, we all agree the club belongs in the First Division. On a personal level, I want to help the club and my teammates, and that means playing as much as possible."
"My wife was born in Fuerteventura, and I usually spend summers in the Canary Islands. I don’t need to discover anything new—it’s a paradise and truly spectacular. Las Palmas is a beloved club everywhere, with a very attractive playing style that’s a pleasure to watch," he concluded.
