Pako Ayestarán: "I would never settle for a draw"

Basque UD Las Palmas manager, Pako Ayestarán, is sure his team can win tomorrow, and added that "I always have a winning approach to matches" and "I won’t settle for a draw in this match".

There are no reactions yet. Be the first!

Pako Ayestarán referred to the yellows’ current position and to tomorrow’s league clash, saying "we need to focus properly on tomorrow’s game. I am more interested in what we are doing ourselves, I don’t take any notice of the other teams".

The trainer answers in an ironic manner to one of the questions put to him: "The team are not moving forward, we are split down the middle, not putting in the work, there is no backing by the club, and there is no chance we can get out of this. I get the impression there are people who want to hear that sort of thing. This is not what we see on a daily basis. We see a club that is fully involved, from the president right down to the last employee, because we are going to pull out of this", he stated.

As for the 19 players who have been included in the squad following the last training session, he made it clear that "if Jonathan Viera is in the squad it means he is fit to play".

Concerning tomorrow’s rival, Levante, the manager admitted that "they are direct rivals because we are up against them tomorrow. They are a tough outfit. We know all about Levante, and there will be no surprises".

Ayestarán recognised that "the fans play a leading part in all clubs, and we are convinced that if we give good value to our fans, then they will respond, as historically the fanbase at Las Palmas have always had an important say", he concluded at the press room in El Hornillo.
