UD Las Palmas finished their last home game of the season in the Estadio Gran Canaria with a goalless draw against UD Almería. In the first forty-five minutes, both sides forgot about tight marking and attempted to play attacking football. In Almería’s first scoring opportunity, forward Caballero headed the ball home, but it was ruled out for an earlier foul. Cedrés responded firstly with a shot that went wide followed by another that struck the angle between crossbar and post.

An attractive game was expected, given how quickly both sides broke forward. Youth player Fabio made his debut in midfield alongside David Timor. The latter hadn’t been in the starting line-up since the time of Manolo Jiménez, when he played two matches.

Rubén Castro, who was attempting to be the league’s leading scorer, got a goal in the 23rd minute, but the referee deemed that he had fouled an Almería defender previously. Just minutes later, following a fine move, his shot hit the face of away goalkeeper Fernando. On the half an hour mark his rasping left foot shot hit the upright. Fortune was not on his side. Half time came with a nil-nil scoreline.

The match fell away in the second half. The ball was being contested more than being played. Las Palmas and Almería were lacklustre in their attempts to put together attacking moves. The afternoon’s loudest ovation was for Momo, when he was replaced in the 68th minute by Srnic. Minutes before second team player Carlos had entered the fray, making his first ever first team appearance, replacing Cedrés. In the last few minutes, Pepe Mel also brought on young Kirian Rodríguez for his first team debut. Álvaro Lemos had the last chance to get on the scoresheet, but shot across the goalmouth. The final whistle came with points shared.
