UD Las Palmas approached the return leg of this Spanish Cup tie as almost certainties following the 1-4 victory in the away leg in Riazor. Both teams featured new faces in a match that seemed a foregone conclusion before the start.
Deportivo de La Coruña began to threaten the home goal defended by Chichizola, but lacked the final punch. The ball and the tempo of the game belonged to Pako Ayestarán's men. It was by no means exciting football, more a matter of contention.

A shot from outside the area by Borja Valle took home goalkeeper Chichizola by surprise. Lucas Pérez, with an open goal in front of him, had the chance to put his team on level terms, but Aythami Artiles blocked his shot on the goal line. Remy, in time added on, finally calmed fans's nerves by scoring his team's second to make the scoreline 2-3. In the end, the yellows limped over the line but registered another home defeat.
