Diego Martínez: "The team is showing the best attitude, persistence in moving forward, and perseverance. That has to earn us a reward."
The coach stated, "The team is very hurt internally. We're going through a situation that nobody wants. They give everything and need a good boost, to feel different."
Diego Martínez spoke at a press conference ahead of the match against Getafe CF, where he noted that the game at the Coliseum "will be against a team on the rise and with a high level of confidence." He added, "It will be a tough match. Our circumstances are what they are, but we're going with the mindset to win, to be competitive, and to be sharp in front of the opponent's goal — that's what we need to win games."
Some of his other comments included:
"The mental factor is always important. There's one fundamental thing in football, and that's the state of confidence — and that comes from results. Where precision doesn't reach, persistence must. There's a lot of individual and team conversations, field work, video analysis... we need to win."
"There's no specific case. Álex Suárez is a very important player for us, he's always performed well. He's a very committed guy. From there, only eleven can play, and we've always tried to preserve each player's peak form."
"The team is deeply hurt inside. We're going through a situation that nobody wants. They give everything and need a boost, something to make us feel different. We're in a bad run of form — precision is key, and we've made mistakes that have really cost us."
"We need that bit of sharpness and luck, to believe in ourselves and feel that we can do it. These are moments that really bring people together, and we have to face them by looking adversity straight in the eye."
"We have a good locker room that believes in getting that win, and that's what should give us the most strength. We understand the frustration, but this is the time to fight together — a win would change everything."
"The time for reflection will come once the season ends — right now, it doesn’t help us internally. Getafe forces you to stay switched on for the entire match, and that focus will be crucial."
