Rubén de La Barrera: "Reducing that noise and anxiety about doing well, I think, will give us control, and that control will help you play the way you need to."

The coach of UD Las Palmas, Rubén de la Barrera, assessed the draw against Real Valladolid (2-2) in the press room.

There are no reactions yet. Be the first!

Rubén de la Barrera highlighted that "the reaction in the second half was not tactical, but rather emotional," emphasizing the importance of regaining stability and reducing anxiety after two consecutive defeats.

These were some of his statements:

"We started the match really well, and that allowed us to take the lead. We are coming off two defeats, and that creates a kind of emotional buzz for the players. And from there, mistakes can happen due to rushing or trying too hard, which leads to doing things that aren't necessary. That allowed Valladolid to score two goals."

"In the second half, everything became more stable. And that stability is good for us. The team needs tranquility, calmness with the ball, being close to one another. The second half was indeed more controlled on our part."

"What’s important to me is that emotional aspect; it will help you defend better. We are the ones who need to stay calm. Reducing that noise and anxiety about doing well, I believe, will give us control, and that control will help us play the way we need to."

"We need to focus on the day-to-day and on each match. We have to keep moving forward and not fall into chaos. This is about continuity, about improving. Looking back only to take references that help you become better."

"There was no tactical instruction in the second half. It was about lowering the decibels and the noise. What happened in the second half was not about tactics but about emotions. When you play with calmness and composure, more of what we aim for happens."
