Diego Martínez: "I understand the fans' frustration. Being clinical in both boxes is fundamental, you can't afford to concede."

The coach said: "We're very sorry to all the people who came out; we failed in such an important match. We had very clear chances, but we’re still missing that little bit of momentum working in our favor."

Diego Martínez, head coach of UD Las Palmas, spoke at a press conference following the team's defeat to Real Sociedad at the Estadio de Gran Canaria. The coach expressed regret and disappointment over the result and the performance in front of the home crowd.

Here are some of his main comments:

“The match became very difficult for us early on, and we gave up goals too easily in our own box. We tried everything we could.”

“No one is giving up here. We knew from day one that the situation was going to be very tough. We'll keep searching for that sharpness we're still missing.”

“It’s normal for everyone to be upset, but no one here is going to give up.”

“We’re all hurting. Individual names don't matter right now. UD did enough to deserve a better result, but it just wasn’t to be. I believe in these players, and we have to keep pushing to find that finishing touch. We're searching for that win that could change everything.”

“I understand the frustration of the fans. Being effective in both boxes is key — you can’t allow soft goals.”

“We’re united, and we believe in what we’re doing. Starting tomorrow, everyone’s focus will already be on the Getafe match — with hope, belief, and determination.”

“There are eight matches left, and anything can happen. We’ve come up short and we admit it. The hill has gotten steeper, and now we have to climb faster.”
