Etebo (born Lagos, 9th November 1995) is a versatile player who can adapt to any attacking position. He comes from the Portuguese league club Feirense on loan, with an option to buy. He made his debut with his national team in July 2013 in the second leg of the African Nations Championship, scoring two penalties. 

In another international match, Nigeria qualified for the semi finals of the Under 23s African Nations Cup as runners-up in their group. In the match against Senegal, Oghenekaro Etebo scored the only goal of the game (1-0).

In the final, and in his fifth game, Etebo started the match, as his team played against Argelia and Etebo had a brilliant match scoring the two goals that led to a 2-1 victory. Nigeria earned the title and qualification for the Olympic Games in Río de Janeiro in 2016. He was the tournament’s top scorer with 5 goals.

Due to his wonderful season, on 7th January 2016 he was acclaimed the most promising young player of 2015, by the African Football Federation, as was as joining European football by signing for Feirense de Portugal, where he has scored 4 goals in 18 appearances. 

The national team’s Under 23s trainer confirmed he would go to Brazil and play for the Nigeria Olympic team. On 4th August, he made his debut in the Olympic Games, starting in front of 30,000 spectators, scoring 4 goals in a star performance as his side beat Japan (5-4).

The player arrived in Gran Canaria late last night. He will undergo a medical at lunchtime at the Hospital Perpetuo Socorro. In the afternoon, after training at El Hornillo Sports Complex, he will be unveiled officially in Telde (19.00 horas).
