Pepe Mel assessed his team’s victory this evening against Sporting, saying “we deserved to win. We were on top in midfield and we stopped them from passing the ball around”.
“We ought to be really pleased because the players who have come through have played very well”, he said referring to the young blood in his side, adding “it is great news for Las Palmas”. Pedri was man of the match, and Mel recognised “that he is destined to be a very important player in Spanish football”.
Narvaéz started his first match for the club tonight and his manager said he was happy with the effort he put in while he was on the pitch, “he has done all that we have asked of him. A player with his qualities is just what we need”. He finished by saying: “now on Sunday we have another game coming up which we don’t really have time to prepare for”.
