Pepe Mel: “The youngsters have raised the level of demands I have placed on the team”

Las Palmas’ trainer said his players have played a decent match, but that “there is still much to improve on”, adding that his young players “raise the level of demands I have placed on the team. They all want to do what is required of them”.

Pepe Mel recognised that the game was hard “after all the physical work we have put in, there are still lots of people out there and we are not used to playing on this kind of surface”.

Rubén Castro was involved in the warm-up and his manager explained that he didn’t feature in the friendly against UD Gran Tarajal, because “he felt a twinge in his lower calf muscle and we didn’t want to take any risks with him”. Pedri was one of the stars of the match, and his manager said “he should enjoy the moment”.

“The team cannot be broken up nor relax at any time because their best chance of the second half came” said Pepe Mel.
