Paco Herrera assessed his side’s win this evening, and was cheered by the final result, although he explained “we have been doing a few different things over the last two or three games which have finally come through today”. The manager was clear about what he liked about his team today, saying “I am pleased about how strong we were at the back and how convincing we were in attack”.
Eric Curbelo made his debut in the Estadio Gran Canaria, and his manager said of him “he is making his presence felt in the team”; however he did not just talk of his defender, but the improvement the team has made, down to the presence on the pitch of Peñalba, who “gives us a calming influence on the ball”.
Despite today’s victory, the manager stressed he didn’t want “a line-up of names, rather ideas. Right now I have 15 players at 100%, and I am working to get the rest of the squad up to their level”. As for the likelihood of reinforcements in the upcoming winter transfer window, he stated “if they give me the choice between players I don’t know who are similar to Aythami, I would take the latter, because I know him and I know what he can bring to the team”.
Herrera ended his press conference by talking of the market place and said “I have the areas of the pitch I am concerned about covered, if I did have to ask for a specific player it would be an out and out winger”.
