The curtain falls on the league with a defeat and the debuts of Arturo and Josito (2–0)

The league season is over for UD Las Palmas, who wrapped up the final matchday with a 2–0 defeat away at RCD Espanyol. The afternoon will be remembered for yet another controversial refereeing decision and for the promising performances from academy players, including the official debuts of youth talents Arturo Rodríguez and Josito González.

Despite numerous setbacks (the latest during warm-up, with McBurnie feeling discomfort), Las Palmas came out looking lively and eager to open the scoring. Before the 20th minute, Espanyol keeper Joan García had already made three saves against shots from the yellow side—two from outside the box by Loiodice and Manu Fuster, and a header from Juanma Herzog.

The visitors put on a solid first-half display, moving the ball well through academy graduate Sergio Viera and staying organized across all lines to contain Espanyol's efforts.

Las Palmas keeper Dinko Horkas had little to do in the first 45 minutes, his biggest scare coming from a cross-shot that Juanma Herzog deflected wide for a corner.

The match went into halftime 0–0, with Las Palmas creating a few more chances that were blocked by Espanyol’s defense. One of the most dangerous came from Benito just before the break, after a rebound fell to him on the edge of the box.

Early in the second half, Las Palmas again threatened, with a big chance from Jaime Mata off a pass by Januzaj. The striker got to the ball in time but was denied by another last-ditch stop from Joan García—once again crucial in keeping the score level.

Things took a turn past the hour mark. The visitors were shocked by a penalty called against Essugo, which Puado converted for the 1–0. Las Palmas’ protests were in vain. Minutes later, Espanyol sealed their survival with a second goal from Pere Milla. That was the end of it.
