UD Las Palmas president, Miguel Ángel Ramírez, spoke today during the unveiling of his new sports director, Italian Rocco Maiorino, who comes to fill the gap left by Toni Cruz. "I had my first meeting with Rocco last December. Since then he has been watching the side and how the club functions". Ramírez also highlighted all the work put in by technical secretary Toni Otero, but believed "he needs support", adding "now is the time we need to put in the work to start a new period which will lead to improvements in the club".

"For as long as I am the major shareholder, the responsibility will rest with me only. When this season is over there will be a loss of 5 million which will be coming out of my pocket", the president pointed out. The club's leader understands fans' protests because "we haven't given them much to cheer about for a while now".

Miguel Ángel Ramírez admitted that "if we don't get promoted we need to reconvert the situation and put together a more competitive squad. As for the future of the players and manager Pepe Mel, he stated that come the end of the season there will be time to analyze all that has gone on and take the appropriate decisions.
