UD Las Palmas went down to their third successive defeat in Zaragoza. The home side played to their strengths as they quickly put the game in their favour with quick counter attacks. UD Las Palmas were back at the historical La Romareda stadium with the intention of getting their season back on course, but were unable to play their best. As Pepe Mel had indicated before the game, he brought in the young Álex Suárez as right back, in place of the injured Álvaro lemos. Kirian and Juanjo Narváez also featured in the starting line-up.

Opponents Real Zaragoza had been struggling themselves, but had more than enough scope to be considered serious promotion contenders. In the 3rd minute Las Palmas conceded their first goal. An intended header back by Aythami Artiles was intercepted by Luis Suárez and he scored despite desperate attempts by Josep Martínez to block. Jonathan Viera clicked into gear and had a great chance to draw level. His well struck shot was turned away by home goalkeeper Álvarez. A minute later he fired wide from another good position.

However, the home side went 2-0 in the 13th minute through Nieto. Just before this, Josep Martínez had made a great point-blank save from Pombo. A header by Álex Suárez (min. 30), was another chance for Las Palmas to reduce the arrears. The Zaragoza goalkeeper was well positioned to block. The teams went in at half time with the home side two goals to the good.

The second half saw Zaragoza get another early goal, their third, and any chance of the yellows coming back into the game faded. Luis Suárez was the scorer (min. 63), after reacting quickly to a save by Josep Martínez from a penalty awarded against Aythami Artiles for a foul on an opponent. The match opened up and chances came and went for both sides. The referee disallowed a late goal by Srnic for offside and then sent Mauricio Lemos off for two yellow card offences.
