Diego Martínez: “This is a very tough and sad moment for everyone”

The yellow team's coach emphasized the upcoming match against Leganés, saying: "We have to try to recover as quickly as possible and try to get through the game."

Diego Martínez spoke this Friday at a press conference, ahead of the match against CD Leganés on Sunday at the Estadio Gran Canaria. "We have two league games left in which we have to try to show our best version," he said.

These were some of his statements:

"We are professionals who defend a badge, a feeling. But life doesn't end here, nor does our career. We want to say goodbye on Sunday with a victory. Many things happen in life; we managed to pull through at the beginning. What frustrates me the most is that just when we were doing well heading into the final stretch of six games, that’s when we failed."

"We’ve all been aligned from the first moment to the last. The people here have given everything. We were in such a tight situation that it was very difficult to integrate new players. Many factors played a role, but it's clear that several key players haven’t been able to be there."

"We’ve tried to get the most out of the squad, also affected by confidence issues. But if the results don’t come, a coach is obligated to keep making adjustments."

"We respect the competition, the team, and the fans. We have to assess availability, because some players are really worn out and tired. We'll see who takes the field—whoever does will be fully ready. We’ll go with the maximum number of players who are 100% fit."
