Adrián Suárez: "When you hear that the team of your life is calling and wants you, you stop thinking about anything else"
The new UD Las Palmas goalkeeper stated that he’s here “to earn my spot and become the starting keeper. I’m going to work as hard as I can to achieve that. I’m here to give it my all.”
Adrián Suárez was officially presented this morning as the new goalkeeper of UD Las Palmas. Luis Helguera, the club’s sporting director, said, “We’re very happy with his arrival. We believe Yepes can help him improve a lot—he’s good with his feet, very professional, and we really believe in his potential.”
The player from Gran Canaria expressed his excitement about this new chapter with UD Las Palmas: “As someone from Gran Canaria, it’s always a source of pride to play here—especially when you’ve felt the colors since you were a child. I’m very grateful for the opportunity.”
“I would describe myself as a brave goalkeeper, confident playing out from the back. I’ve come to be a starter, to earn my place, and to work as hard as possible to make it happen,” Adrián added. He also emphasized that what mattered most in his decision to join Las Palmas was “the emotional side of things. Once you hear that the team of your life is calling you, you subconsciously can’t think about anything else.”
The new yellow keeper also shared that “as a kid, my role models were goalkeepers like Mariano Barbosa, Raúl Lizoain, or Casillas. Nowadays, I look up to keepers like Courtois or Ter Stegen.”
