UD leaves empty-handed from the decisive match against Sevilla (1-0)

UD Las Palmas couldn’t secure the victory that would have kept their hopes of staying in the top flight alive. On Tuesday, they lost 1-0 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, where Sevilla made the most of a goal from a set piece. The Yellows gave everything on the pitch throughout the night in Seville, but couldn’t find the net in a tense match loaded with pressure and tough standings.

A vibrant local atmosphere set the tone early on, but Las Palmas tried to match Sevilla's intensity. The visitors entered the match with the urgency it demanded, and after some early exchanges, it was Januzaj who had the first real chance — a low shot from the edge of the box that Nyland saved.

That was UD Las Palmas’ best opportunity in the first half of a tightly contested game, where both teams showed focus despite the pressure. Sevilla also tested Horkas, who made key saves against efforts from Carmona (22') and Lokonga (32').

The balance didn’t tip either way going into halftime, with constant battles across the pitch. Las Palmas created more chances through Januzaj and Sandro, but couldn’t beat Nyland. The score remained 0-0 before the decisive moments began.

The second half started with a double blow: Bajcetic had to come off injured after a defensive foul, and shortly after, Álvaro García scored with a header in the six-yard box. Horkas couldn’t stop the shot that gave Sevilla the lead.

Las Palmas pushed for an equalizer until the final whistle. Their best chance came in the 77th minute, when Marc collided mid-air with Nyland and McBurnie scored into an empty net. However, the referee called a foul on Marc, disallowing the goal — a decision protested by the players and bench.

Las Palmas kept fighting for at least one goal, but their final attempts lacked precision and couldn’t break down Sevilla’s defense, who held on tightly to the 1-0.
