Las Palmas bids farewell to its fans with another home disappointment (0-1)

UD Las Palmas' home season has come to an end. It concluded this Sunday with another defeat (0-1), this time against Leganés. Diego Martínez’s players couldn’t give their loyal fans a reason to smile on an afternoon that will nonetheless be remembered for the La Liga debuts of youth players Sergio Viera (who had already played in the Copa del Rey) and Diego Martín.

The match had no relevance in the standings for UD Las Palmas, as relegation had already been confirmed on matchday 36. The yellow team tried to open the scoring from the start, attempting to please the 11,279 spectators present at the Siete Palmas stadium.

It was Moleiro who posed the first real threat to the Leganés goal. The Tenerife-born player shot aiming for the top corner in the 3rd minute, but goalkeeper Dmitrovic made the save.

However, in Leganés' first offensive move, the 0-1 was created. Dani Raba headed in unmarked, diving to place the ball out of Dinko Horkas’ reach. The referee initially disallowed the goal, but after a VAR review, it was awarded a few minutes later.

Barely five minutes had passed, and once again Las Palmas found themselves in a game that went against their interests. Diego Martínez’s side felt the blow and couldn’t find good chances to equalize before the break.

Leganés managed their lead well in a dull game, full of interruptions and low inspiration. The 0-1 stood at halftime after 51 minutes of play, with the Canary Island crowd visibly disappointed.

Second-half substitutions brought new energy to the home side, especially thanks to Benito's strong performance on the left wing. Las Palmas gained more control, searching for opportunities and pushing Leganés back.

Leganés' practical style could have extended their lead, with Diomande and Oscar missing two good chances.

The match continued until the 95th minute, but the scoreline did not change.
