Pimienta: "We have to stay humble and focus on who we are"
The coach emphasized in the press conference ahead of the visit to Osasuna that "the previous match against Atlético Madrid should make us see that if we compete like that, we can beat anyone. We have to go out and compete like animals; we don't have another option."
García Pimienta appeared on Friday at the press conference before the trip to Pamplona. The yellow coach was adamant that the team should not lower its guard despite the recent results: "If tomorrow against Osasuna we arrive thinking that one can go to the national team, the coach has a good streak, the goalkeeper is the least conceded... Osasuna will crush us. It's a team that brings incredible intensity." "The team deservedly has all the praise, but we have to stay humble and focus on who we are," he added.
Here are some of his statements:
"A good week after a victory, we've had several days of training to prepare for tomorrow's match. I'm very happy with how the victory against Atlético Madrid happened; in the end, we are UD, and to beat these kinds of rivals, we have to play at 100%. It was impossible to play better both offensively and defensively."
"What I'm most proud of is that the team always competes. The Atlético match should make us see that if we compete like that, we can beat anyone. We have to go out and compete like animals; we don't have another option."
"We have a characteristic; we want the ball and have an associative style of play. We have to take risks whenever possible."
"I don't like to highlight individuals, but Javi Muñoz is a fantastic player. When Luis Helguera told me he was closing the deal for this season, I told him to come with his eyes closed. Everything he brings, how he conditions the opponent, chipping in, providing assists... he's one of those players who seems to have no name and has many games under his belt. I'm very happy for him."
"Osasuna is in a comfortable position on the table, with experienced players and playing at home. We have to finish the match competing; that way, we'll have a chance to win."
"Euphoria is managed by being realistic. There hasn't been any match where we have been infinitely superior to the opponent. Either we are at 100%, or we have zero chances. We are not better than many teams, but we are not worse than others either."
