Pepe Mel: "The team did well and when we get the players back who are missing we will be even stronger"

The Las Palmas manager was pleased with tonight's draw in Málaga, saying that his team "are looking good but we will be stronger when our missing players are back".

Pepe Mel said how hard it was to pick up points in a stadium such as La Rosaleda, stating "my players are competing really well. Until the penalty decision we were in control of the game", adding that after the equalising goal by Adrián "they went all out for victory".

Rubén Castro got on the scoresheet for the first time this season with a superb goal, and Mel stressed "it doesn't matter how old he is, or the fact he has had no proper pre-season, we need Rubén on the pitch because he is capable of doing what he did today".

To end with, the manager said he was optimistic about the young crop of players now playing for UD Las Palmas. "That is really positive. The youngsters are giving us an added dimension", and highlighting the performance of his defensive pairing, he added "Aythami and Mantovani were superb today".
