Pepe Mel: “At 1-1 we faded from the game”

Las Palmas’ manager was highly critical tonight with his team’s defeat, saying “it’s inexplicable because even at 1-1 I thought we were doing fine, and then in the second half we faded badly”.

Pepe Mel pointed out "we lost the game in a three-minute spell" and did not want to make any excuses for his team’s many absent players, adding "we are professional and we need to compete always".

"We have gone off track and we need to get back to winning ways" he stated, before admitting "trainers are only as good as their results. The technical team do a lot of good things during the week".

Youth player Dani Martin made his debut tonight for the yellows and his manager praised him for his performance on the pitch although "he was quite nervous and has made a debut at a difficult place to play at". Pedri was back in the starting line-up for Las Palmas after his adventure with the Spanish Under 17 side, and his manager admitted "he is tired. He played in all the matches for Spain and has travelled a long way in a few short days".
