Paco Herrera put out his three top strikers, with Sergio Araujo playing out wide on the left wing, while Rubén Castro and Rafa Mir played in the central attacking role. However, Las Palmas came up against a team who are enjoying a superb run. The match was going to be a tough one, as Cádiz CF came into the game on the back of four straight wins, and their good form was apparent. Martin Mantovani joined Deivid in the defensive pairing at the back. Juan Cala was ruled out through suspension.

the game became even harder early on with the own goal by Deivid (min. 11), following a cross from the right which Raúl Fernández failed to reach. Las Palmas  were finding it hard to define their playing style. The home side were a tight unit all over the pitch and were able to pick up second phase possession, and just by defending in an orderly fashion were able to win the ball in crucial areas of the pitch.

Just when the away side looked like they were settling down Cádiz scored their second goal, (min. 43) the work of Manu Vallejo. Two shots from the edge of the area by Timor and a move in which Rubén Castro was unable to get on the end of a through ball was as much as UD Las Palmas could muster in the Ramón de Carranza during the first half.

In the second half, Paco Herrera reshuffled his pack and put on German forward Dany Blum in place of Rafa Mir. Cádiz carried on where they left off. They huddle together in numbers in defence and attack quickly on the break. Despite Las Palmas moving the ball around they were unable to trouble home goalkeeper Cifuentes. In the 70th minute the match was all but over as Cádiz scored their third goal of the night, this time by Sergio Sánchez. Pekhart pulled a goal back (min. 78) following good work by Lemos. The fourth and final goal of the game was scored by Salvi Sánchez in time added on.
