A 1-1 draw, with a goal by Serb Srnic, signalled the end of the league season for 2018/2019 for UD Las Palmas at Los Pajaritos stadium. The yellows started brightly with some fluent attacking play, and hit the woodwork twice in a ten minute spell. Firstly it was Álvaro Lemos, followed by former youth team player Kirian who came up against the good positioning of home goalkeeper Campos.

Pepe Mel’s side took the game to their opponents, and created the better chances against CD Numancia, especially from set pieces. However, in the 27th minute, Fran Villalba scored following a good move by the home team’s attackers.

Josep Martínez then made two good saves to prevent Numancia going in at half time with a bigger lead. The yellows lacked precision up front. The half time whistle came with a slender 1-0 lead for the home side.

In the second half, it was CD Numancia who posed the greater attacking threat. A header that came back off the crossbar nearly doubled their lead. Las Palmas, apart from a weak header by Rubén Castro which was easily gathered by the goalkeeper were unable to lay siege on the home goal. When Sergio Araujo came onto the pitch, the away side began to show more bite up front. A through ball by the Argentine was taken full advantage of by Srnic to level the scores (min. 78). In time added on, Josep Martínez had to rush out of his goal to block the ball with his leg, keeping Las Palmas in the match.

The game rounded off an irregular season for the Gran Canarian side with this latest draw (1-1) Pepe Mel, who has extended his contract this week until June 2020, has used these last few league matches to draw some conclusions concerning a good number of second team players who he knew little about, and who will get more playing action when the squad returns for preseason training on 8th July.
