Manolo Jiménez assessed his team’s defeat in El Molinón and recognised that although it wasn’t Las Palmas’ best performance “I didn’t think Sporting were any better. We have missed out on three important points and we lacked sharpness in attack”.
“In the first half we were on top without over-running them. When they scored their goal they grew in confidence” he stressed. Jiménez said he didn’t want to criticise the referee’s decisions.
Las Palmas’ trainer spoke of Sporting’s playing style and defined them as being : “fighters who worked really hard, and when we brought on more attackers late on they created problems for us on the break”.
