Dani Sarmiento, an award-winning handball player from Gran Canaria, will take the kick-off in the match against Real Racing Club.

After retiring as a professional handball player last year, UD Las Palmas wishes to show tribute to him by having him kick off before the game against Real Racing Club.

Canarian sportsmen will be honoured once more at the Gran Canaria Stadium. On this occasion, UD Las Palmas will be visited by former handball player Dani Sarmiento, who will take the honorary kick-off just before the start of the match against Real Racing Club. 

Dani Sarmiento began his career at Juventud Las Palmas and progressed through the teams of Gáldar, Almera, and Ademar León before joining FC Barcelona, where he won 22 championships, including six leagues, two European Cups, four World Cups, the Rey, four Super Cups, and six Asobal Cups.

During his stint with the Spanish National Team, the athlete from Gran Canaria was crowned world champion once, European champion twice, and Olympic bronze medalist.
