García Pimienta: "We haven't maintained the same level of effort throughout the game"

García Pimienta, the coach of UD Las Palmas, stated after the draw with Racing Club that "I wouldn't call it conformism since everyone wants to win. But if you're not fully engaged and can't maintain that level of intensity, we may or may not have won ".

García Pimienta spoke in the press room at the Gran Canaria Stadium this evening following the draw against R. Racing Club (1-1). The yellow coach reviewed the point distribution and concluded that "We got off to a good start, with good chances and arrivals in the opponent box... We did not have the ambition to pursue the second goal. When you leave the game open against a competitor like Racing, it might be harmful ".

We did not play with the same energy throughout the whole 98-minute game. They took a step ahead but we have not been like in the early half", noted the coach, who emphasised that "I would not call conformism, everyone wants to win. But if you're not fully engaged, you can't maintain that intensity, and we could have won even if we didn't."

"We have to be lot more effective; we are really excellent when we are completely concentrated," the coach said. "Viera hadn't competed in a long time, and we want him to gradually increase up the level of minutes, exactly like Sandro," says the coach.

García Pimienta concluded by thanking the audience: "It is always successful. It was not feasible to give them their first victory of the year; I hope this game teaches us something. I'd want to thank them for their support; they didn't stop cheering until the very end ".
