Vitolo: "Sevilla gave me a lot and I gave a lot to them"
Las Palmas player Vitolo spoke to UDRADIO following tonight’s defeat against Sevilla CF, saying he was happy with the team’s performance despite the result. "Their goal had a touch of luck about it, but our team put in a good performance and kept our shap
"I was expecting them to boo and whistle at me, although after four years playing here, it wasn’t very comfortable out there" he said referring to the hot reception he got from the fans at the Sánchez Pizjuan on his return, this time in the yellow of Las Palmas. He added "Sevilla gave me a lot and I gave a lot to them" while having kind words to say about the Andalusian team, saying "I feel a great affection for Sevilla".
Having received an elbow blow and some hard fouls by his ex team mates, Vitolo said "whatever goes on on the pitch stays on the pitch, they are just doing their job and are not going to present me with a bouquet of flowers". He did feel, however, that the home fans "got them going". Vitolo had some goal scoring chances, and responded that "I felt a little niggle and so was not playing at full throttle as I do when fully fit".
Referring to UD Las Palmas’ next match, the Canarian midfielder said "it is one of our won games, a home game to try to put in a good performance for the fans". As for his possible injury, Vitolo said he hoped it was "nothing serious, I just felt a twinge, I hope to recover fully soon".
