Valentín and Elías score academy goals in the draw with Valladolid (2-2)

Another draw for UD Las Palmas at home, this time against Real Valladolid (2-2). Goals from academy players Valentín Pezzolesi and Elías Romero helped De la Barrera's team secure another point on a challenging afternoon, as they had to cope with 11 absences. The match also saw the debut of young defender Adrián Rodríguez from Carrizal, who played the final minutes after fellow defender Andrés Rodríguez experienced some discomfort.

The Galician coach of UD Las Palmas chose on this occasion to include Andrés Rodríguez and Elías Romero in the starting eleven for the first time in the current championship. The former played as a left-back (with Loiodice moving to the midfield) and the youth player Romero was positioned as a reinforcement in the attack alongside striker Jesé Rodríguez.

The match could not have started better for the home team. In the 4th minute, Valentín Pezzolesi converted a pass from Iván Jaime into the 1-0. Las Palmas came out with determination and succeeded in their first attack, but the joy of the goal lasted only 4 more minutes. Valladolid equalized after a play by Víctor and a fortunate rebound that led to a header by Latasa.

Everything started over again at the 8th minute of play. But things got complicated in the 25th minute, after a ball was stolen in the Canarian defensive zone and Ponceau finished with a powerful shot to make it 1-2.

That scoreline remained until halftime, after a phase of the match in which Las Palmas did not have control and faced many difficulties in approaching the Castilian-Leonese area again. Caro, however, had to intervene on several occasions to deny the visitors' subsequent attacks.

Las Palmas returned from the locker room with renewed energy and soon equalized the match again with a goal from Elías Romero. The youth player remained alert to the development of a play by Jesé, who had threatened in the visitors' area with a shot that hit the post.

The 2-2 changed the tone of the match, which could have swung back in favor of the Gran Canaria side when Elías Romero once again broke towards the rival area in the 55th minute. The youth striker shot with determination, but the ball went just wide of the Curva stand's goal.

The score did not change further despite the notable effort by the yellows to complete the comeback in front of 16,489 spectators.
