UD Las Palmas and FC Barcelona strike a deal to transfer Pedri
UD Las Palmas and FC Barcelona today closed a deal for the transfer of their young player Pedro González, ‘Pedri’, which will come into effect on 1st July 2020. Las Palmas will earn a fee of 5 million euros for the transfer and will earn a further 15% of
UD Las Palmas have transferred their player Pedri to FC Barcelona, although the deal will not come into effect until 1st July 2020. The player will stay at Las Palmas for the rest of the season and may even stay the following season too in the event that Barcelona don’t send him out on loan to a team in a higher division than UD Las Palmas, the same division as Barça B or sign him on as a first team player.
UD Las Palmas will get a 15% cut on any future move of the youth player. The contract also includes variable clauses in the event he is chosen to play for the national side (at different levels), Barça B and FC Barcelona. Currently, Pedri has been pre-selected to travel to Qatar in the next few days, for preparation for the Under 17s World Cup.
Pedro González (Tegueste, Tenerife, 25th November de 2002) at just 16 years of age is one of the club’s bright young stars and is into his second season having been signed from Juventud Laguna. Pepe Mel, first team manager, with the help of ex-player Ángel López, were aware of the great footballing potential of Pedri as an under 19 player during the summer. On 17th July Pedri, in the presence of the president, signed his first professional 5-year contract.
