The coach of UD Las Palmas assessed the victory achieved against AD Ceuta FC, highlighting the competitive ability shown by the team in a demanding match and the importance of securing six out of six points at the start of the season.
Rubén de la Barrera highlighted that "it was not a comfortable trip, we knew that from a sporting perspective it was going to be a tough, competitive match, especially on their home ground. Beyond talking about the game, we had to talk about competing. Today, I think it was a day to send ourselves a message that when we need to roll up our sleeves, the team has to do it."
These were some of his statements:
"First of all, I want to send all my support to the people of Ceuta and thank them for the welcome they have given us."
"We have to value competing, which gives substance to what we want to do. In this regard, I am happy because we have six out of six points. All of this strengthens the day-to-day work and everything we aim for."
"Ceuta is a team that is tremendously competitive at home. I dare say that, in football terms, coming to Ceuta is not synonymous with the visiting team taking the points. They are a brave team, as they showed last season. They have clear ideals and good players. What we achieved today is not easy."
"From a sporting perspective, they were going to feel supported. With extra energy, and logically, that energy has to be contained. It is not an easy match to play, and as a coach, I try to give the best possible guidance to the players."
