The coach of UD Las Palmas analyzed the match against SD Eibar, corresponding to the seventh round of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, and highlighted the importance of staying calm and stable after the defeat in Ipurua.

Match analysis

“The match started in the worst possible way, conceding two early goals. That made them feel comfortable defending deeper and counterattacking. I think there were two distinct halves, but both were influenced by their first two goals.”

“We were unbalanced in our pressing and in understanding how to play out from the back. We approached the second half in the best way we could. When we were getting closer, that third goal came. We tried to make adjustments, got it to 3-2, and thought we could tie the game. But it didn’t happen.”

Defensive imbalances

“If you’re caught out of position or standing still, that space will open up, but it’s a matter of not properly adjusting our pressing in the first half.”

“Our approach involves a certain level of risk. It can allow the opponent to counterattack, but that wasn’t the case. The third goal could have deepened the wound, but we felt stable and had chances to equalize.”

Staying calm

“At times like these, it’s important to stay calm and stable. We’ve added another injury to the list. Mentally, stability is needed. A result changes perception. We need to identify what happened today to approach the home game with a desire to win. That momentum will allow us to keep adding three points at a time.”
