Raúl Fernández was unveiled as UD Las Palmas’ new goalkeeper after passing his medical earlier on. He spoke of the efforts the club made to bring him to the island: "I felt I was wanted from the start and it was the best option for me". He spoke of his experience in this league, saying "I was lucky enough to have played in a team that was promoted two years ago, and I want to feel the same again, but I know it will be tough and we will have to work really hard".
"Las Palmas have all the ingredients I look for in a team, with their history, their fans and this great project which caught my eye", he said, referring to what attracted him to the island.
As for his fitness, Raúl stated: "I feel really good, my injury is behind me now. I am looking forward to putting my gloves on and getting out there on the training ground with my team-mates", he concluded at the press conference at the Estadio Gran Canaria.
