Pepe Mel: “These three points are definitive”

Las Palmas’ manager stressed that if his side picks up the three points up for grabs in tomorrow’s game, “they could be definitive for us to bring the season to a conclusion. We’ll need to compete hard against a great side”.

Pepe Mel is aware of how tough the league is, and said “winning at this stage of the season is hard because all the teams have something to play for”. As for whether the team will regard the match as a way of gaining revenge, the manager replied “there are only a few players left from that game and we are just focusing on the three points”.

“They will be trying to come away from here with a result. Their players will try as hard as they can to put in a good performance. They are in a delicate situation and that makes them dangerous”, he responded with reference to tomorrow’s rivals. He added “we have to go out there with great intensity without looking at the league position or our rivals”.

To finish he spoke of the youth system and apart from saying he had given first team chances to three players, Toni Robaina, Cristian Cedrés and Josep Martínez, he said “I won’t close the door to anyone between now and the end of the season. The club should be happy because three new players have been added to its footballing heritage”.
