Las Palmas tastes victory again in Cádiz in 2026 (0-1)

The third victory of the official season came for UD Las Palmas this Saturday (0-1). The team from Gran Canaria won again at Cádiz CF's home ground, this time making the most of the solitary goal scored by Enrique Clemente in the second half. The match was a constant test of obstacles, from weather conditions—strong wind—to the challenges posed by an opponent that made the points hard-earned. 2026 concludes with three victories on the Andalusian team's turf, adding this one to last season's league win and the recent victory in the Carranza Trophy.

Rubén de la Barrera opted to make four changes in the starting eleven of UD Las Palmas compared to the previous match. Iñaki González, Enrique Clemente, Iván Jaime, and Jesé Rodríguez returned to the initial lineup, the latter after serving a one-match suspension.

The match began with a dangerous play from Cádiz, as Vázquez headed the ball at the far post, though the ball did not find Caro's goal. Las Palmas gradually improved their performance in the game, generating several offensive actions by targeting the flanks where Miyashiro and Iván Jaime were active.

The feelings for the islanders, despite the prevailing wind, were positive. In fact, the first ball that ended up in the net was scored by Bonfanti. In the 28th minute, the Italian struck a loose ball in the area after a set-piece play. However, following a VAR review, the 0-1 was disallowed as it was deemed that the ball had touched Miyashiro's arm in the preceding action.

It was not the only disallowed goal. A minute later, García Pascual headed the ball into the visitors' net. But the referee team also invalidated the play due to an offside that preceded it.

The last chance of the first half came from Jesé, with a powerful shot from the edge of the area that required Ezkieta's intervention to prevent it from ending up in Cádiz's goal.

UD Las Palmas came out determined in the second half, with new plays that could have broken the prevailing nil-nil. In the 46th minute, Iván Jaime shot delicately from the edge of the area, hitting the base of a Cádiz post. In the 47th minute, the visitors unsuccessfully appealed for a penalty due to a handball by Kovacevic. And in the 51st minute, Jesé made a 60-meter run, which he ultimately could not finish as he approached Ezkieta.

Las Palmas' waves of attacks finally paid off, with Enrique Clemente's goal at the hour mark. The defender joined the attack to complete a play in which Miyashiro had tested goalkeeper Ezkieta's reflexes.

The next key player was José Antonio Caro, who managed to block a point-blank shot from García Pascual. The play had started with a pass from Caro himself, intercepted by Cádiz's attackers.

Las Palmas managed to protect Clemente's goal, and despite their opponent's efforts, the 0-1 scoreline remained intact until the end.
