Pepe Mel acknowledged that this evening’s win "means we can look up towards the top of the table. We still have important players out but fortunately both Pedri and Jonathan are with us".

"We challenged hard for the balls today and when we had possession we looked good" Mel stated. He also underlined that "in our home games recently we have been able to score goals and the fans have enjoyed themselves", while adding that he hoped the good run would continue "so we can get bigger crowds coming to the Gran Canaria stadium".

This was a win in which Jonathan Viera once again contributed a brace, increasing his season’s tally to ten goals, and his manager was full of praise for his performance, saying "he gives us so much. If he were able to stay for the whole season we could say it was fantastic Christmas present for Las Palmas".
