Basque trainer Pako Ayestarán said that "we are nearer to what we are aiming for. The things we are working on are gradually coming off", following the yellows’ victory in Riazor.
With reference to the moments in the second half when Las Palmas lost control of possession, Pako Ayestarán said "the team have worked well in defence, except for those 15 minutes of the game". He made mention to the 20 minutes’ playing time for Sergi Samper, saying he was happy, as "he is a quick player, has a great first touch, and I am highly satisfied with the effort he has put in".
With Raúl Lizoain’s performance in goal tonight, and regarding any doubts in selection for the league match, he responded by saying "trainers are pleased that there are players who are pushing for a place in the team, we have two great goalkeepers".
Next Monday UD Las Palmas once more come up against RC Deportivo. Pako Ayestarán believes that "they are different types of matches, I am sure they will be tough opponents" the trainer concluded at the Riazor press room.
