Paco Herrera: “We needed to be tighter in defence”

“We did good things when we had possession. In defence we needed to be much tighter” said Paco Herrera following defeat this evening in the Ángel Carro stadium against Lugo.

The yellows trainer started his post-match press conference by saying he didn’t play with three at the back as “Álvaro Lemos played the role of wing-back and did a really good job”.
De tu parte Herrera expressed his disappointment at the number of goals his team were conceding, and stated “I feel destroyed. We have conceded eight goals in two games. We made it easy for our opponents to score against us tonight”.

Las Palmas’ manager said “I shoulder all the blame. I am learning all about the gaps in the team” while asking for “a period of trust to get things right because I am sure I will turn things around, although it is hard to ask for time in football”.

Tonight was the manager’s third game in charge, and he saw positive things in his side, “we looked good on the ball. We are quicker and more fluent than in previous games. I will be working to sort things out in defence” he concluded.
