Las Palmas remains in the fight after securing their fifth consecutive home victory (2-0)

UD Las Palmas did their homework this Friday. They defeated Leganés 2-0 at the Estadio Gran Canaria, securing their fifth consecutive home victory. A goal from Estanis Pedrola and another from Manu Fuster, one in each half, earned Luis García Fernández's team three valuable points before learning the rest of the day's results.

The Gran Canaria team showed patience to overcome some uncertain moments and then secured the victory with another clean sheet for Horkas. The initial lineup featured the return of Marvin Park at right-back as the main novelty in the yellow eleven, with Las Palmas focusing their early attacks down the right flank.

The first significant incident was a VAR room consultation regarding a fall by the visiting player Duk in front of Horkas, who had come out for a long ball. Referee Ais Reig went to the pitchside monitor but ruled that there were no grounds to award Leganés a penalty.

Las Palmas began to build momentum after that moment of unease. Manu Fuster created the first dangerous play, which was thwarted by a defender just as he was about to shoot. Finally, Estanis Pedrola made it 1-0 on the scoreboard, finishing with a cross-shot after a play initiated on the right by his teammates Ale García and Marvin Park.

The opening goal boosted Luis García Fernández's players, although Leganés also created plenty of opportunities in search of an equalizer. However, the goal came close twice at the Grada Curva end before halftime. The first chance came after a solo run by Estanis Pedrola from midfield to the penalty spot, but his shot was ultimately blocked by a Leganés defender at the last moment.

The next opportunity, just before halftime, came from Kirian Rodríguez. The yellow captain entered the box to redirect a deep cross. His surprising shot was met with an agile save by goalkeeper Juan Soriano, who managed to deflect the ball to a corner just in time.

In the second half, possession shifted to the feet of the Leganés players, but Las Palmas' attacking plays remained very dangerous. Jesé had a chance with a powerful shot in the 53rd minute, which was saved by goalkeeper Soriano. After several more attempts, the 2-0 came in the 67th minute with an excellent long-range strike by Manu Fuster.

The yellow team understood the need to close any gaps that could reopen the game. Horkas managed to secure another clean sheet while more local chances unfolded on the opposite end of the field. The closest came from Pejiño, but the Barbate native's attempt went over the crossbar.
