Las Palmas starts the League with a draw against Andorra (1-1)
There was a share of points at the start of the 2025-26 League. UD Las Palmas drew 1-1 against Andorra at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, in a match that had started with optimism for the yellows after Ale García's goal. But it ultimately turned sour in the second half with an own goal, Iván Gil's injury, and the expulsion—due to a second yellow card—of Valentín Pezzolesi.
UD Las Palmas quickly took the initiative on the scoreboard after a few minutes of mutual probing. It was Ale García who opened the scoring by finishing off a pass from Manu Fuster. The successful play in the 7th minute began on the left flank, with a diagonal shot from Iván Gil that hit the crossbar, leading to the second action for the 1-0.
The home team then felt comfortable with their initial production and the style of play they were developing. Ale García had another chance to score when, in the 18th minute, he broke away solo toward the visitors' area. However, goalkeeper Aron thwarted his final move with his fingertips.
The match had settled into a rhythm that suited Luis García Fernández's players, who managed to complete the first half without any major scares. They also observed their opponent's ball-handling skills, as Andorra managed to react in the latter part of the first half. However, Andorra could not break the organization of the home team. The 1-0 scoreline remained at the end of the first half, despite some additional attacking plays from the home side that did not alter the lead.
The visiting team showed intentions of equalizing the match in the second half, although their dominance did not translate into any significant threats in Dinko Horkas's area. Las Palmas embraced the effort in defense and counterattacks as the new face of their game. They also had two excellent chances to extend their lead. First, with a chip shot from Enzo Loiodice that went just over the crossbar. And a minute later, with a goal from Ale García that was disallowed due to a microscopic offside.
However, in an unfortunate play, the match was leveled with an involuntary deflection by Barcia that ended up in Horkas's net (1-1), as the game entered its final quarter of an hour.
The night at the Gran Canaria stadium had changed in just a few minutes. But the misfortunes did not end there. Iván Gil suffered a concerning injury, Valentín was sent off, and... a shot from Ale García hit the crossbar, which could have fixed everything. But it was not to be.
