Las Palmas improves its engine performance with a demanding test in Funchal (1-1)

The first UD Las Palmas team scored a draw against Maritimo de Funchal in Portugal. Mauricio, in his own goal, put the “yellows” ahead in the first half and Rodrigo Pinho tied the score in the second one.

The UD Las Palmas improves its engines performance in the pre-season. The “yellows” measured themselves against CS Maritimo de Funchal in the Dos Barreiros Stadium, that competes in the first portuguese division and will play the Europe League this year.

After the first rehearsals against Las Palmas “C” (7-1), and against a South of Gran Canaria selection of players (0-6) and Las Palmas Atlético (1-1), Manolo Márquez’ footballers got a draw in portuguese domains. The starting line up was formed by Chichizola, David Simón, David García, Bigas, Borja, Hernán, Tana, Viera, Benito, Vitolo y Calleri. While the Maritimo lined up Charles, Mauricio, Zainadine, Erdem Sen, Rodrigo Pinho, Éber Bessa, Edgar Costa, Luis Martins, Gamboa, Bebeto y Valente.

The match began with a high pressure by UD Las Palmas during the first moments of the game. Tana, helped by the defense Mauricio, kicked the 0-1 into the score in the minute 29. The Maritimo reached the Chichizola domains in some isolated actions with shoots for afar that meant no problems for the argentinian goalie. After this friendly match in Portugal, UD Las Palmas is facing another pre-season match next thursday in Marbella against the turkish Besiktas and in the same week against the “Balompédica” Linense en La Línea de la Concepción. In the first days of August, the Mahou Cup will take place with a double match against CD Tenerife. Those pre-season matches will end with the Carranza Trophy in August the eleventh against Cádiz FC.
