UD Las Palmas drew their match in Tenerife after many seasons of ending up pointless in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López. They could have won, as they had more of the play and created more chances. The VAR was called upon in the last move of the match and snatched a penalty away from Las Palmas. Despite this, UD Las Palmas looked the better side, especially in the second half.

In his starting line-up, Pepe Mel put Eric Curbelo in the middle of the defence alongside Mantovani in place of the suspended Aythami Artiles. The position of right back was taken by Álvaro Lemos, while the diamond formation in midfield was formed by Mauricio Lemos, Galarreta and Kirian.

The game started with two clear chances for both sides. In the 3rd minute Las Palmas went close with an individual effort by Cedrés. His shot brushed the left hand upright defended by Ortolá when it looked a certain goal. Straight after Suso had a good chance for Tenerife, but his effort hit the side netting.

The home side kept possession and laid siege on occasions on the away goal. Then from a set piece Eric Curbelo headed firmly towards goal in the 22nd minute and the home goalkeeper clawed the ball out from under the crossbar. Both sides found it hard to string their moves together due to continual interruptions. There were lots of forced errors and neither side were able stamp their authority. Half time came with a nil-nil scoreline.

UD Las Palmas reshuffled their pack at the start of the second half (4-4-2). Mauricio Lemos moved into a centre back role and Álvaro Lemos pushed forward. Curbelo moved to the right wing. The yellows began to get a grip and dominated possession. They began to move the ball around, near to the home box, and Tenerife began to look more unsettled, to such an extent that Milla was sent off in the 72th with a rash challenge from behind on Pedri.

Mauricio Lemos (min. 78) limped off with a muscular injury, forcing Pepe Mel into a change: Eric returned to the centre of the defence, Álvaro Lemos out wide and Srnic came on and took position on the right wing. From a free kick Drolé headed goalward but the ball was cleared. Tenerife's backline was packed with players in an attempt to keep Las Palmas' attacks at bay. Srnic hit a right foot drive which was saved by Ortolá. Las Palmas had all the ball, the possession, the attacking play and the chances. Tenerife, with a man down, played down the clock, as they were being over-run.

In the 90th minute the VAR snatched victory from Las Palmas. A clear foul on Rubén Castro made the referee point to the penalty spot, but this was cancelled out due to Pekhart being in an offside position.
