Las Palmas beats Eibar with sacrifice, effort, and audacity (3-1)
UD Las Palmas experienced a pink night at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, with a 3-1 victory over SD Éibar. Luis García Fernández's team was solid, disciplined in defense, and practical in attack. Ale García, Milos Lukovic, and Enrique Clemente were the architects of a hard-fought win, marking another step forward in the standings.
Éibar made it clear that it was not going to be a comfortable matchday for the local players. The Armeros set their lines of pressure and disconnection strategies against UD Las Palmas' plays from the very beginning. The yellows, in fact, could not control possession against an opponent that created several dangerous chances in the opening minutes.
In this scenario, the match of the tenth round was also an exercise in patience, avoiding exposing the ball to turnovers, especially in their own half. However, Las Palmas had a strength in their game as they were able to gain space with speed and create few but dangerous opportunities.
Lukovic had two chances to score in the 18th and 22nd minutes. In the first opportunity, he received a pass from the right by Viti Rozada, but the ball passed in front of his boot after he had already gained position in the small area. However, the Serbian was able to later connect with a cross from Enrique Clemente on the left. The striker's shot hit the body of goalkeeper Magunagoitia after the defense had already been beaten.
Las Palmas had to endure this phase of the match where their opponent had more prominence and opportunities. The best chance came in the 37th minute after a run by Corpas that his teammate Buta could not finish, with a poor shot.
Everything seemed to be heading towards a goalless draw at halftime. Then came the great play by Ale García, scoring his fourth goal of the current championship. The Gran Canarian winger sped down the left flank after a pass from Amatucci. He reached the area alone and had the patience to lift his head before placing the ball in the net with an excellent cross-shot.
The valid game plan was the local one. After several attempts, Lukovic managed to score the 2-0 in the 65th minute. The previous action featured Marvin Park, whose cross was struck by the Serbian on the volley with a powerful and precise shot.
The match still had more to offer. The San Sebastian goalkeeper prevented a close-range shot from Amatucci, Martón made it 2-1 in stoppage time, and Enrique Clemente, with a left-footed shot from outside the area, cleared any lingering doubts. The 3-1 was celebrated by the local players with their fans, with effort and audacity.
