UD Las Palmas player, José Antonio Caro, appeared before the media ahead of the match against Real Valladolid, corresponding to the eighth round of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, which will take place this Sunday at the Gran Canaria Stadium.
The yellow goalkeeper reviewed last weekend's defeat against Eibar and focused on the aspects the team needs to improve to get back to winning ways. Caro also spoke about his personal situation after two seasons with limited playing time, his confidence in his teammates, and the importance of restoring the bond between the team and the fans.
These were some of his statements:
"I think we lacked focus at the start of the match. In the last game, we weren't fully engaged, especially in a stadium like Ipurua, which we all know. In the previous home game against Burgos, we played our best minutes of the season, even though we've only had seven rounds. Then we went from better to worse in the second half. I trust in the daily work, and I'm sure positive results will come."
"The coach conveys calmness and emotional stability to us. We need to become stronger at home, take all the possible points because that's the key to fighting for bigger goals."
"I have full confidence in all my teammates. We have many injuries, but I'm happy and grateful to Enzo Loiodice because he has played for two weeks in a position that isn't his. He had to start there as a starter. I'm very proud of Enzo's work and the other three. I have full confidence if he plays there again because he will give everything he has."
"We are conceding more and scoring more, which is a fact we need to value. It's true that when you aim for bigger goals, conceding fewer goals brings you closer to achieving them. It's hard to explain why we are conceding so much. We are giving too much to our opponents. We are working and focusing on what we are not doing well to achieve stability that brings us closer to victory."
"We are calm, trying to see what we can improve to get closer to winning. The team is focused daily. There is confidence, and we ask for calmness because it will surely be a good year. It's time to tighten our belts and get the three points on Sunday."
"I am a goalkeeper who likes to play outside the box and defend the space left by my defensive line. We need to keep adjusting a few things, especially in pressing, so that the opposing team's playmaker doesn't catch us off guard. I like what the coach proposes, and we trust in what we are working on."
"Valladolid is a great team with a very clear style of play. It won't be easy at all. Any opponent in this category makes things difficult. We will try to counteract them."
