Paco Herrera: "This is the ideal game for us"

“When you play against Tenerife you are always fired up. All the players know the rivalry that exists between the two sides and what it means to win this game. You don’t need much more motivation than that. Now’s the time to give our fans all we’ve got. I

The manager confirmed the call up of goalkeeper Raúl Fernández. Gaby Peñalba is the new face in the squad. “I know he is not fit to last 90 minutes, but I will be able to use him at some stage of the match", while adding that Momo is also back from injury, although he prefers to wait until next week before bringing him back into the team.

Paco Herrera said: "I am concerned with our urgency, as everything that is urgently is done too fast. It is important to win, because we need to, and it is also a derby match”. He hinted at changes in the starting line-up:  “There may be changes in the starting eleven, but not because of defeat last week in Lugo, but because I am evolving alongside the team. I look for the best, but I also see the team is growing. I can feel it and see it”, he added.

As for tomorrow’s rivals, he stated: ”Tenerife look a good side, they attack with a lot of common sense. I am sure that if we win it will give us a great lift and confirm the green shoots I am starting to see. I have tried to draw them away from the situation. They have enough going on during the week for me to keep going on about it”.

“A win tomorrow means three points to me, and I am not looking beyond that. If the team are able to win they will have improved twice as much, but we must remember this game is against our eternal rivals. Our fans deserve a win to cheer them up. It is the ideal match for us, because I prefer to face a team that are doing well so we can show how well we can play”. He ended by saying: “There are no favourites in derby matches. It is 50/50”, concluding the press conference.
