Pepe Mel: "We weren't effective enough"

Las Palmas manager said he could not criticise his players, as they "worked hard, showed commitment and created chances, but we didn't turn them into goals".

Pepe Mel stated that set pieces "are a lottery. We scored from one and so did they. We went from nearly extending our lead to conceding an equaliser".

"Pedri was tired and we took him off because he ran out of steam" he said referring to his young midfielder, adding "we need to look after him and make sure he stays fit until the end of the season". In the case of Aridai it was the player himself who asked to be taken off because "he felt the same discomfort as before, so we couldn't risk him because he brings a lot to the team".

Mel spoke of the absence of Fede Varela in today's team, saying "he was uncomfortable during training this morning and we decided to rest him for this game".
