UD Las Palmas went down tonight to their third consecutive home defeat, this time by 0-3, with all the goals coming in the last few minutes. The home side had two clear chances in the first five minutes which would have settled them down against a tough Cádiz CF. In the fourth minute of the match, Rubén Castro hit a shot against the post. Just a minute later, a left foot shot by Fidel Chávez shaved the right hand post of Cifuentes.

Pepe Mel introduced Srnic and Fidel to the starting line-up to provide more penetration on the wings. The away side had a bold line-up themselves, with a defensive back line that was placed further up the pitch. Raúl Fernández pulled off a fine save from a shot by Jairo (min. 13) avoiding the game's first goal.

The game then lost fluency. Cádiz held the upper hand, but were too hasty in their attempts to attack Las Palmas' goal. Their quick forwards clashed time and again with the home side's back line. The game then sped up leading to a lot of fouls and loss of possession in tricky parts of the pitch. The sides went in at half time with a nil-nil scoreline.

The second half saw Pepe Mel bring on young second team player Toni Robaina for his first team debut. The team was reshuffled as Eric Curbelo moved into central defence and Álvaro Lemos switched to right back.

Las Palmas took a step forward, but Cádiz resisted the home side's attacking threat. Both Pepe Mel and Álvaro Cervera searched for a breakthrough on their respective benches. The defences were coming out on top against the attacks. The minutes passed and a draw was no good to either side. The game was then halted for five minutes following a crunching challenge by striker Jovanovic on home goalkeeper Raúl Fernández, who was forced off the pitch with injury. Substitute goalkeeper Nauzet Pérez came on for the last ten minutes plus time added on. In the 85th minute, away striker Machis put his side 0-1 ahead. Just two minutes later Machís again scored to make the points safe, scoring a simple tap-in (min. 87). Then in time added on the same Venezuelan player scored his hat-trick for a final 0-3 scoreline.
